About
Hi, we’re the mischief makers behind this site. Our interests are varied and tend to wander about – much like we do. The Mighty-Flighty family was created so we could share our likes (and in some cases, dislikes) with you!
When we started out, we had one design on a t-shirt, a lot of excitement, and very little direction. Now, you can find over 200 designs in our family of stores – and we’re every bit as excited as we were on day one! We occasionally still struggle with the ‘direction,’ but have found it’s sometimes best for folks like us to just follow our noses. We also follow our sticky fingers…they like to dabble in handcrafts and test out new recipes whenever the opportunity arises.
We hope you enjoy your time here!
Matt & Darice
P.S. If you’d like, feel free to read more about our interests, the Mighty-Flighty family of shops (Mighty-Flighty, BiblioGifts, Veggie’s Shop, Fools and Fables, and Root Beer Float), and our production partner, CafePress. You’re also invited to join us on Facebook, Twitter and Flickr!
Mighty-Flighty
Matt
When he wasn’t teaching dogs to perform wild tricks, Matt would acquire broken alarm clocks, radios and engines, which he promptly fixed and attempted to sell. His numerous guitars filled the rooms of his home with sweet, sweet music and an occasional heavy metal riff or two (some of which deeply worried his mother.)
Nowadays, Matt’s music fills the halls of our home and studio. He still fixes (and yes, sometimes sells) broken and discarded items for fun – he is, after all, the right-hand man around here. Actually he’s left-handed, but there’s no need to split hairs…
Darice
As a little girl, permanent marker in hand, she added the finishing touch to one of her father’s oil paintings, whitch was hung at the perfect level just above the living room couch. She was famous for creating wonderful messes with construction paper and scissors, fashioning her own Halloween costumes and choosing her daily wardrobe without regard for color theory (which deeply worried her mother). She would nurse ailing insects back to health, belt out imaginary songs while traveling in the car, and direct secret meetings in the cupboard next to cans of tomato soup.
Not much has changed since then…although Darice now appreciates other artist’s work as their own and, unfortunately, she’s finding it more difficult to fit into cupboards.
Together, we like to experiment with different mediums and use Mighty-Flighty to represent our collective works and handcrafts. As freelance artists and indie creatives, we truly appreciate your interest in our work and studio.

BiblioGifts
BiblioGifts is a celebration of books, learning, literacy and the written word. No matter what your background or interests may be, there exist volumes of poetry, biographies, tall tales, even technical information, that would be inaccessible without books. Our ability to read allows us to imagine, to dream and to educate ourselves. It also allows us to keep up on current events, and revisit our history. The Book Lover’s Shop is a way for us to promote these ideas and show our appreciation for those undercover superheroes – librarians.

Veggie’s Shop
Our Journey through Vegetarianism
We started out as most vegetarians do – lacto-ovo vegetarians. We ate anything and everything except for flesh and considered the strict vegetarians (vegans) to be just a little too extremist for our taste.
After researching the world of animal-friendly lifestyles a bit further, we eased into lacto vegetarianism (giving up those scrambled eggs at the diner was no easy task). At this point, we were pondering veganism but still had out doubts about the mental state of many of them.
We finally came around to true vegetarianism as vegans after our first ThanksLiving Dinner at Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary. There was no denying the connection between the dairy/egg industries and animal suffering after our swift (but very thorough) education over dinner. We returned home, did some independent research, and decided we would indulge ourselves for one more holiday season, starting off the New Year as official vegans. Why not? Our friends and family think we’re a little nuts anyway…it’s part of our charm, or so we’re told. ;)
Our progression was gradual; we took time to learn about proper nutrition and where our food actually came from before taking the plunge. For us, vegetarianism has been a marvelous journey and an invaluable learning experience. While to many people veganism seems extremist and unnecessary (hey, we admit to thinking that ourselves in the beginning), it is, for us, a very natural part of the long progression to animal, earth, and self friendly living.

Fools & Fables
Fools and Fables encompasses a broad range of topics that interest us. With a pinch of dry humor and an occasional dash of irony, we present history, politics, religion, myths and legends. Hopefully, we manage to deliver our ideas with a bit more intelligence than most.
Root Beer Float
As parents and true kids at heart, Root Beer Float gives us a place to showcase our colorful, just for fun designs. We’ve noticed that despite the wide selection of items available in chain stores, it sometimes seems impossible to find an item that speaks to you without being rude or offensive. You won’t find any ‘diva’ or ‘pimp’ designs here – just good, clean, kid-friendly designs on eco-friendly and sweatshop-free clothing.
